WASTE AND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT WORK ACADEMY

The AEVES Waste and Resource Management Work Academy is a 4-5 week DWP approved training opportunity that will not interfere with a candidate’s benefits status. It is fully funded (subject to eligibility).

We prepare candidates for recruitment to entry-level Waste and Resource Management positions by providing:

♦ Pre-assessment training for WAMITAB (Waste Management Industry Training & Advisory Board) NVQ level 1 Award for Waste and Recycling
♦ Assessment and certification to WAMITAB Level 1 Award for Waste and Recycling
♦ Access to additional general pre-employment training where needed
♦ Guaranteed interviews for jobs via AEVES

Following WAMITAB Level 1 Waste and Recycling training, candidates will:

♦ Understand the importance of sustainable resource management and related services
♦ Be able to state current waste and recycling legislation
♦ Know how to accept, collect, & dispose of waste and recyclable materials safely
♦ Be able to identify different types of waste, containers, hazards and personal protective equipment (PPE)
♦ Be able to identify and use different manual handling techniques
♦ Be able to state what is meant by hazardous and non-hazardous materials
♦ Know how to work safely operating waste and recycling equipment and working around vehicles

Eligibility:

Most candidates working 16 hours or less a week and 19 years old or over will be eligible for the free programme - eligibility is assessed on a case by case basis.
